2009 Bedford County Fair Fairest of the Fair Pageants

Please note, this year the Bedfrod County Fair is providing a $500.00 scholarship to the 2009 Miss Bedford County
Entry Fee
$30.00-1st child, $20.00-2nd child, $15.00-any subsequent children
Door admission- $5.00 ages 13 and up (except contestant and ONE backstage person) $3.00 ages 6-12 Ages under 6 Free.
The winning young lady in the 16-21 year old division will have the honor of being spotlighted each day at the fair by presenting awards and other activities. Her beautiful presence will be admired and honored for upholding her title at different community organizations, at different events throughout the year; events including parades, spokesperson at civic and community organizations and the biggest and most exciting event being the competition at the Tennessee Association of Fairs Convention, where she will be competing against other Fairest of the Fair winners across the State of Tennessee.
If your child does not win, please keep in mind, different eyes see beauty in different ways. The motto of the Bedford County Fairest of the Fair event has always been:
"Each entrant is a winner, beautiful and unique."

2009 FAIREST OF THE FAIR
(16-21 Years)
RULES
1. Contestant must have reached her 16th birthday but not her 21 u birthday on or before December 31, 2008.
2. Contestant must be a resident of Bedford County.
3. Contestant must be single, never married, and have no children.
4. Contestants will be presented in evening gown.
5. Contestants will be judged on beauty, poise and personality. On stage questions) will be a part of the competition. The decision of the judges is final.
6. No talking to the judges while the pageant is in session.
7. Sportsmanship is a must. Anyone displaying bad sportsmanship will be asked to leave and will forfeit their entry fee and any winnings.
8. Applications may be picked up at Colleen's Cottage, Shelbyville Times-Gazette, and the Chamber of Commerce.
9. Contestants must submit a photograph with entry form. Photographs will be returned the night of the pageant.
10. Entry fee and applications postmarked and/or received in-hand by July 12th, 2008 will be $30.00. After July 12th, NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
11. Contestants will be entered by mailing an entry foam, photograph and applicable entry fee of $30.00 to: Jerri Lynn Smith, 808 Shelbyview Drive, Shelbyville, TN 37160.
12. Contest will be held in the Harris Middle School Auditorium. All contestants are asked to be on time as we will not hold up the pageant to wait on late arrivals. (NO REFUNDS will be given.)
13. "Fairest of the Fair" for 2008 will be required to be present for other events during fair week and will be the official fair hostess. She will also be invited to participate in the Shelbyville Christmas Parade. Runners-up are invited to return during fair week to assist with fair events.
14. Bedford County Fair's "Fairest of the Fair" will be the representative at Tennessee's "Fairest of the Fair" contest in Nashville. The Bedford County Fair Association will pay the room expense of the winner to the state pageant. If for some reason the winner cannot attend, the first runner-up will attend. All entrants must have never been married. If they choose to marry before the state pageant, they forfeit any and all awards.
15. In case of marriage, pregnancy or if for any reason the queen chosen is unable to fulfill her obligations as the reigning queen, she agrees to relinquish all privileges and prizes awarded to her. The Board of Directors of the Bedford County Fair and the Director(s) of the Pageant have the discretion of recall should any improprieties or negative circumstances occur. Any queen recalled will be succeeded by the next eligible runner-up. Conviction of any crime other than a minor traffic offense shall be cause for recall.

I, understand the above rules and if I become Bedford County Fairest of the Fair, I will abide by these rules. If not, the next eligible runner-up will become Bedford County Fairest of the Fair per the Fairest of the Fair Committee and the Fair Board of the Bedford County Fair.

2009 RULES FOR ALL AGE GROUPS
1. Birthday must coincide with the date of the pageant.
2. All contestants must be residents of Bedford County.
3. Applications may be picked up at Colleen's Cottage, Shelbyville Times-Gazette and the Chamber of Commerce.
4. Entry fee and applications must be postmarked and/or received in hand by July 12th, 2008. Entry fees for all age divisions is $30.00. However, if entering more than one child, the fee for the second child is $20.00 and $15.00 for any subsequent children. After July 12th , NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

6. All pageants will be held at the Harris Middle School Auditorium.
7. Please be on time as we will not delay the pageant to wait on late arrivals. (NO REFUNDS will be given)
8. Judging will be based on attractiveness, poise and personality. The decision of the judges is final.
9. No score sheets will be given out. These are not given out because all of the contestants scores are on the same sheet.
10. Talking to the judges will not be allowed while the pageant is in session.
11. Each contestant must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and only one person is allowed backstage with the contestant.
General Information
• There will not be a rehearsal. There will be a group line up at the beginning of each age group then each contestant will walk individually in the traditional "T" pattern.
• If your child is small and will need help, one person may assist them on stage. If they are able to walk on the stage alone, we encourage that.
• There will be assistants backstage to help with directions for all age groups.
• Categories have tentative start times. Depending on the numbers of entries in each age group, we hope to stay as close to the printed start times as possible.
• Sportsmanship is a must. We want this to be a fun time for you and your child and all children are winners.
• Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning with the first pageant beginning at 10:00 a.m.
• You may check in approximately 30 minutes prior to the competition for your age group; however, someone will available for check in for all groups beginning at 9:00 a.m.
• Contestant numbers will be given out at check in.
• A dressing area will be available.
